Alison Dunne - Mezzo Soprano

Alison Dunne commenced her vocal studies with Prof. Paul Deegan in the Royal Irish Academy of Music. During her degree she studied with Mary Brennen. In March 2007 she was offered a full scholorship to The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Cardiff International Academy of Voice where she continued singing lessons with Dennis O’Neill. Alison also attends regular coaching with John Fisher of The Welsh National Opera.

In October 2005 Alison sang her first major role of Dorabella in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte in an Opera Ireland lunchtime production. Other operatic roles include Carmen and Mercedes from Carmen; Orlofsky from Die Fledermaus; Third lady from The Magic Flute; Giovanna from Rigoletto; Dead Wife from Bluebeard. In Spring 2009 Alison performed Second Bridesmaid from The Marriage of Figaro with Welsh National Opera.

Alison has been a chorus member as well as soloist with Grange Park Opera, Opera Ireland, Anna Livia Opera Company and Opera Theatre Company, as well as The Welsh Youth Opera and  Castleward Opera Company.

Alison is also in demand as a sacred and oratorio singer in both Ireland and the UK. Performances include Haydn's Nelson Mass, Handel's Messiah, Vivaldi's Gloria and Bach's Christmas Oratorio.

At present Alison is a fulltime chorister with The Welsh National Opera.  In 2010 Alison is covering the role of Mercedes from Carmen with Welsh Nationl Opera as well as An Apprentice in Wagner’s Die Meistersinger Von Nurnberg.
