David Menezes

David was born in Barnsley and studied classics at St. Hugh’s College, Oxford. On completing his degree he took a post graduate place at the Royal College of music.

David has sung with Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Opera Holland Park, Mid Wales Opera, Carl Rosa, Grange Park, Nederlands Nationale Reissopera & Wexford Festival.

He has twice appeared with British Youth Opera, as Colonel Fairfax in The Yeomen of the Guard and as Flute in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Other roles include Pierre (The Wandering Scholar – Holst); Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni - Mozart) and Mr Box (Cox & Box - Sullivan) for Minotaur Opera; Peter Quint (Turn of the Screw – Britten); Ferrando (Cosi fan Tutte – Mozart); Mozart (Mozart & Salieri – Rimsky-Korsakov); Mr Vogelsang (The Impressario); Richard Dauntless, Nanki-Poo, Ralph Rackstraw, Earl Tololler & Frederic with Charles Court Opera; Thaddeus (The Bohemian Girl - Balfe) with New London Opera Group; Aesculapius Carboy (The Zoo - Sullivan) with Finborough Theatre; Defendant (Trial by Jury - Sullivan); Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas - Purcell) with Opera South East; El Remendado (Carmen - Bizet) for Longborough Festival and Opera Project.

In addition to stage and oratorio performances, David regularly gives concerts with Five’s Company a group formed with his sister, soprano Elizabeth Menezes.
