
James Gilbert completed an MA in music at Huddersfield University.
Roles performed since include: The Pirate King (cover) - Pirates of Penzance (Carl Rosa Opera); Papageno - The Magic Flute (OPH - Kijani Festival – Kenya); Ben - The Telephone (Chepstow Festival); Splendiano - Djamileh (Opera Minima), Lockit - The Beggars Opera; Angelotti - Tosca (St John’s Smith Square).
Opera companies worked for include Grange Park Opera, Opera Holland Park, Chisinau National Opera, European Touring Opera and Buxton G&S Festival.
Solo concert appearances include: Requiem (Mozart and Fauré); The Creation (Haydn); Messiah (Handel); Wachet Auf (Bach); Mass in C (Beethoven); Five Mystical Songs (Vaughan Williams).
James also acts as Music Director for education workshops with Leicestershire based Opera Minima and works as a choral deputy with the choir of Hampton Court Palace, St. John's Islington and the American church in London.
He continues to study singing with Brian Parsons.
Future engagements include Grange Park Opera 2010 season and the 2010 Buxton G&S Opera Company Festival.
