
Lisajane Ellis completed her Postgraduate Performance Diploma in singing with Distinction on a Scholarship at Trinity College of Music. In recognition of her outstanding performance during her Postgraduate year, she was awarded the Paul Simm Vocal Prize.
Lisajane continues her studies with Arwel Treharne Morgan and Paula Anglin.
Originally from Liverpool, Lisajane grew up in Fife, Scotland. After first studying at Napier University in Edinburgh, Lisajane began her degree at The Birmingham Conservatoire, where she achieved distinction for Postgraduate studies. During this time she was the winner of several awards and competitions including the Mario Lanza Opera Prize, the Birmingham and Midland Institute Prize and was also a finalist (having won the voice category) in the Symphony Hall Competition.
Amongst the operatic roles performed to date are; Butterfly (Madama Butterfly – Puccini), Abigaille (Nabucco – Verdi), Musetta & Mimi (La Boheme – Puccini), Lady Harriet (Martha – Flotow). Nero (The Coronation of Poppea – Monteverdi) & Maria Corona (The Saint of Bleecker Street – Menotti).
In 2008, Lisajane toured the UK with English Touring Opera in all 3 of that season’s productions, singing both in the chorus and covering the role of Mrs Gleaton in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah. With Opera Minima, Lisajane performed several roles in their Mozart Opera Series and the title role in Martha by Flotow. Lisajane is also a regular company member of Opera Holland Park.
Lisajane made her debut at St John Smith Square, London in a performance of Cantiga, the Song of Ines de Castro - a Dramatic Scena for Soprano and orchestra by David Matthews. Recent projects include a series of concert performances of popular arias and ensembles with London Lyric Opera, including "Passion of Puccini" (Musetta/Butterfly), at Leighton House in Holland Park with piano accompaniment performed by Richard Nunn, and a performance of Rossini’s Petitte Messe Solenelle at The New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth.
Engagements in 2011 have included a return to Opera Holland Park Chorus in Don Pasquale (Donizetti) and L’amico Fritz (Mascagni).
