Mariya Krywaniuk, soprano, is a native of Vancouver, Canada and graduated with a Masters of Music from the Manhattan School of Music.
During her time in New York, Mariya was the recipient of numerous awards. Most recently she was the winner of the Career Bridges Foundation of New York, an honour she has held for three years. She has also been a prize winner in the prestigious Gerda Lissner competition and a New York district winner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Awards.
Mariya has sung on the operatic and song stage in Canada, USA, Italy, Czech Republic and Israel. Roles include Countess in The Marriage of Figaro (Steinway Hall, London); Marguerite in Faust and Alice Ford in Falstaff (Amato Opera, New York City); The title role in Manon (International Vocal Arts Institute, Chiari, Italy) and Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte (International Vocal Arts Institute, Syosset, New York).
In 2007 in Tel Aviv, Mariya was presented by American Opera Projects in the role of Mamousha in the world premiere of Jan Hamer’s opera, The Lost Childhood.
Mariya made her Carnegie Hall solo recital debut in June 2008 at Weill Hall, presented by Artists International Presentations.
Since moving to London, Mariya was seen as Mimi in Co-Opera Co’s production of La boheme which she performed in both London in 2009 and then again on tour throughout England in 2010. Most recently, Mariya performed the role of Butterfly in Madam Butterfly with Opera Up Close at the King's Head Theatre. Mariya will rejoin Co-Opera Co this summer and on tour in the autumn to sing the role of First Lady in Magic Flute.
