Virginia King - Soprano

Originally from Dorset she studied at the Royal Northern College of Music where she was recognised as a promising young singer.

On leaving college she received great acclaim with International competition success in the final of the Robert Stolz International Singing Competition in Hamburg and as an award winner and finalist in the Emmy Destinn International Award for Young Singers, London. 

Operatic roles have included: Gilda (Rigoletto - Verdi); Lakme (Lakme - Delibes); Countess (Le nozze di Figaro - Mozart); Mimi and Musetta (La Boheme - Puccini); Micaela (Carmen - Bizet).

Her experience in concert and opera work has enabled her to sing in Japan, Sweden, Europe and Eastern Europe working with conductors such as Richard Hickox, Jaques Delacote, Charles Groves and orchestras including the National Philharmonic and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

In June 2009 she performed the role of Countess in scenes from Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the ENO Opera Works Showcase at the Lilian Baylis Theatre, Sadler's Wells.
